I was watching the news channel last night when there was a report on the proposed immigration procedures for people coming from outside the EU.

The thing that really annoyed me is part of the footage was of council chamber where allegiance was being sworn, or what ever the terminology is, and hanging on the table in front of everyone was the union jack (or flag if you prefer) hanging the wrong way round!

I remember it by the flag turning anticlockwise if flat of hung from the left, but there are other more in-depth ways of remembering it.
